Scalloped Potatoes

Total Time: 2 hrs 30 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs

Ingredients

  • 6 1/2 lbs floury potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 9 tablespoons butter
  • 9 tablespoons flour
  • 3 tablespoons peppadew peppers, finely minced (optional)
  • 4 teaspoons sage
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 cup full cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 220°c.
  • 2 peel, par and thinly slice the potatoes.
  • 3 grease the baking dish well.
  • 4 melt and mix the butter and flour mixture.
  • 5 add the minced peppers. (optional).
  • 6 layer the potatoes in the dish,
  • 7 dredge each layer with the pepper, flour and butter mixture.
  • 8 sprinkle a teaspoon of sage on each layer.
  • 9 heat the cream and milk adding the nutmeg and paprika.
  • 10 pour the milk over the potatoes.
  • 11 bake them for 2 hours ~ may be covered for the first 30mins.
