Emma's Clam Chowder

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 5 (6.5 ounce) cans minced clams, drained
  • 1 large potato, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pinch ground pepper
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 large carrot, grated
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 2 cups water

Recipe

    Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 50 mins

    Ready Time: 2 hrs 10 mins

  • dice bacon, cook in large saucepan with onion and celery until crisp and onion golden. pour off most of fat.
  • add 2 cups water, potatoes, carrots, salt, pepper, thawed tomatoes, and clam juice from cans. simmer 1 hour.
  • add tomato sauce and clams. simmer 15-20 minutes or until just boiling.
